The Clips desktop application records your screen locally on your machine. No video, audio, or clip content is ever sent to our servers or anywhere else unless you explicitly choose to share a clip using the Share feature, which uploads to vyuu.com. Clips itself does not require an account and does not collect telemetry about your gameplay or usage.
Clips stores all recordings, thumbnails, and history metadata locally in %APPDATA%/clips/ on your Windows machine. This data never leaves your computer unless you upload a clip using the Share feature. Uninstalling Clips does not automatically delete this folder — you can remove it yourself if you want to erase local history.
When you share a clip to vyuu.com, the clip file is uploaded to vyuu.com's servers and a shareable link is generated. vyuu.com's own privacy policy governs that hosted copy. Publicly shared clips are hosted permanently (until you delete them on vyuu.com); clips shared with the paid Unlisted Clips option are automatically deleted from vyuu.com after 30 days — your local copy on your own PC is never affected either way.
Clip pages on vyuu.com may display a "Partner Offer" — a curated affiliate product recommendation (currently solar power stations from Bluetti, via Impact.com) — unless the uploader has purchased the Unlisted Clips add-on for that clip. This is a paid affiliate placement, not personalized ad tracking: it doesn't use your browsing history or profile data, and clicking it takes you directly to the partner's site.
Clips Plus and Creator Plan purchases are processed by Stripe, our payment processor. We never see or store your full card number — Stripe handles all payment card data under its own security and privacy practices (see stripe.com/privacy). We do store the email address you provide at checkout, your license key, and Stripe's own customer/subscription reference IDs, so we can validate your license, process refunds, and provide support.
If you share clips to vyuu.com, an anonymous identifier tied to your license (sub_id) is used to attribute any affiliate commissions earned from Partner Offer clicks on your clip pages. If you subscribe to Creator Plan, this same identifier is used to display your earnings and, if you choose to provide one, your PayPal email address is stored solely so we can send you payouts manually. We do not sell or share this data with any third party other than Impact.com (the affiliate network that reports commission data back to us) and PayPal (for payout processing, if you request one).
The getclips.io website collects standard web analytics (page views, referrer, and an approximate location derived from your IP address) to understand how the site is used and to protect against abuse (e.g. rate limiting on login and purchase endpoints). We sit behind Cloudflare, which also processes connection metadata under its own privacy policy. No personal data is sold, and none is shared with third parties for advertising purposes.
We use a minimal session cookie only when you're logged into the Creator Dashboard (via a one-time link from the Clips app) or the admin area. There is no advertising or cross-site tracking cookie on getclips.io.
We keep license and purchase records for as long as needed to provide support, honor our refund policy, and comply with tax/accounting obligations. You can request a copy of the data we hold about you, or request deletion of your account/email address from our systems (where not legally required to retain it), by emailing hello@getclips.io. Deleting your getclips.io data does not remove clips already shared on vyuu.com — request that separately through vyuu.com.
Clips and getclips.io are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
